I had the
opportunity to complete a specific oncology NP program at UCLA and
therefore have been exposed to the unique needs and clinical findings of a
varied cancer population. I worked with respected Oncologists from UCLA as
a student in the areas of community cancer care. brain cancer, and
hematologic cancers. I worked for several months as a provider with a
supervising physician evaluating and treating anemia patients and other
varied benign hematology diagnoses such as coagulation abnormalities,
nutrition deficiencies, etc. I have had 5 months of experience evaluating
and treating patients with anemia and a variety of benign hematology
diagnoses. I have a lengthy critical care background as an RN and
therefore am strong in symptom management such as those needs found in the
cancer population. |

Do You
Have Any Special Skills or Training; i.e. Foreign Languages, Procedures?: |
I can
bring my extensive experience with and knowledge of critical and chronic
illness such as cardiac, pulmonary, endocrine to the care and treatment of
cancer patients. I have worked with central iv access devices, pain
management, and multimodal treatments for symptom management. This will be
a great advantage in caring for heme/onc patients at all stages of care
including primary, secondary and tertiary care. |
